# Manually-collected subscriptions can't have prices with allowances

Subscriptions with an item whose price has `allowances` must have `collection_mode` set to `automatic`.

## Common causes

- The request sets `collection_mode` to `manual`, and the subscription has an item whose price has `allowances`.
- The request updates `items` on a subscription that's collected manually, and one or more of the items have a price with `allowances`.

## Common solutions

- Keep `collection_mode` set to `automatic` for subscriptions with items whose price has `allowances`.
- Remove the items whose price has `allowances`, or replace them with items whose price doesn't have `allowances`.
- Remove `allowances` from the price, then try your request again.
