Accept payments using Alipay. No configuration required.
Alipay is a digital wallet for the Chinese market, used by over a billion people. Over 81% of Chinese consumers use Alipay, making it vital for selling to Chinese consumers.
It works using a smartphone app, prompting customers to scan a QR code with their smartphone on desktop or redirecting to the app on mobile.
You don't need an Alipay account to accept payments with Alipay through Paddle.

How it works
Customer chooses Alipay
Turn on Alipay in a couple of clicks in your Paddle Dashboard. Paddle automatically presents Alipay as a payment method for customers paying in a supported country and currency.
Customer starts confirmation process
If the customer is checking out on a desktop, they're prompted to scan a QR code with their smartphone. If they're on mobile, they're prompted to open the Alipay app.
Customer confirms purchase
Customer confirms purchase on their phone using the Alipay app.
Payment complete!
If successful, Paddle Checkout shows a success screen or enters your success workflow.
Accept Alipay
Alipay is in early access. This means that you need to apply to access it, and it's only available for certain kinds of product.
Apply for early access
You can apply for Alipay if:
- You sell one-time products.
- You sell products in
CNY
(Chinese Yuan). - You agree that products are not on the Alipay list of prohibited and restricted products.

Turn on Alipay
Go to Paddle > Checkout > Checkout settings.
On the General tab, Check Alipay.
Click Save to apply.
Test Alipay
You can test Alipay using your Paddle sandbox account.
Turn on Alipay for your Paddle account.
Open a checkout for a one-time item that's priced in
CNY
(Chinese Yuan).Pick China as the country on the first screen of checkout, then enter an email.
Select Alipay as the payment method and follow the prompts to complete purchase.
Paddle Checkout only presents Alipay as a payment method for one-time items priced in Chinese Yuan, where the customer address is China.
