Sandbox emails are only sent to your registered email domain

Emails for sandbox accounts are only sent to your registered email domain. Where email addresses with other domains are used for testing, they'll be forwarded to the main email address for your account.

What's new?

We updated the Paddle platform so that customer emails sent from sandbox are now only sent to addresses that match the email address that you used to register your account with.

There are no changes to endpoints or fields in the API as a result of this change — it's an update to the way the Paddle platform sends emails.

How it works

Paddle sends emails to customers when they make a purchase and when subscription lifecycle events occur, like subscription renewals or cancellations. These emails are required for compliance reasons.

As sandbox is a test environment, people sometimes enter fake email addresses when testing their checkout or invoicing workflows. This means that we see high bounce rates, where emails fail to deliver because addresses don't exist.

To help protect the sender reputation of the domain we use to send emails from sandbox, we updated the Paddle platform so that emails from your sandbox account are now only sent to domains that match the domain of your main email address in Business account > Account settings.

If you use an email address for another domain, we'll forward emails for that email address to the main email address.

If you signed up for Paddle with a Gmail account, Hotmail account, or other free email service, we'll always forward emails to your main email address.

Emails from sandbox come from withpaddle.com, so you can create a filter for that domain in your inbox to automatically archive, delete, or label test emails. We use paddle.com for live accounts, which is not impacted by bounce rate issues.

Where your main email address is gmail.com, hotmail.com, or other free email services, we always send to your main email address.
